Seven Openings
Limited Time Engagement (Kate Conlon and Boyang Hou)
As we approach the one-year anniversary of Chicago’s first lockdown orders, Seven Openings reflects on the strange experience of missing the city in which one currently resides.
Presented in the form of a care package, a gift for the viewer to take home, the exhibition explores ways in which distributed media might reconnect us with the energy of collective art viewership. At each weekly ‘opening event’ viewers are invited to unseal one of seven compartments to reveal a work in the exhibition. This collection of artist multiples, concurrently revealed in the gallery space, explores various forms of production and activation in an attempt to understand how objects might connect us with intangible qualities of place and community.
